Our Story

Ones upon a time....

There was a support worker who realized that something was limiting the people he worked with. The limits had nothing to do with the people that he supported. It was limits set by the management and owners of the care provider he worked for.
The reason was that they only set goals for the people they had in care.

You might think – “well that sounds great. They set goals and hopefully they worked towards those goals”.

Well, to some extend that is true. Goals are a good thing. But goals that confines and does not fit the service users’ needs and desires are for sure not good. The goals were not set with the service user’s best interests in mind and all of them was written with a timeline way too far into the future. It was clear that they did not make these goals for the service users.

The problem with goals, and especially the once he saw made for the people he worked with, was that they were written down in a future tense and they were the end of the journey.
When the goals where reached they “died” and a new plan had to be made that was way too far in to the future – it was very frustrating and service users would lose interest in their own life.

A vision was what he was missing. A vision is open, wide and you never finish working towards it, because when you get somewhat there, it should have moved and gotten “wider”. And that is what life truly should be. A vision…. We should never stop learning or developing. We should always move forward – we are a living organ and so should our vision of our life be.
Goals are there to make it easier to get there. Easier to understand that this is a journey much longer than one or two goals.

This is where Better Life Production Company was born...
We are sure we could do different. We are sure he could do it with the right values and for sure with heart, love, and compassion.
